CLUB KIT

Swindon Rowing Club buys the majority of its kit from Godfrey Sport based in Nottingham. As rowing kit is made specifically for a club we tend to wait until there is the need or desire from several members before sending an order for the club.  This reduces costs to our members as the price for one-off garments can be high.

If a member prefers not to wait until the next full club order, they can purchase club kit directly from Godfrey Sport.

DO I HAVE TO BUY KIT AS A MEMBER?

That depends. You do not have to wear Swindon Rowing Club kit to train. However, to represent the club at events, you are required to wear club kit. Garments are made especially for rowing so they are more comfortable than standard sportswear and can offer greater protection against the elements. We would always recommend that you look to buy some rowing kit at some point.

WHAT KIT SHOULD I GET?

An all-in-one is perhaps the most essential piece of rowing clothing and is the most strongly recommended of any single item. It can be worn all year round, is relatively inexpensive and provides additional comfort over standard sportswear. All-in-ones are recommended if members wish to take part in races.

A tech-top (technical-top) is either a long or short sleeved close fitting top and made of the same material as an all-in-one (Lycra or similar). During cooler weather they offer additional insulation against the cold.

A splash-top provides protection from the cold, the wind and as the name suggests, the wet allowing safe and comfortable training regardless of the weather.

WHEN WILL THE NEXT FULL CLUB ORDER HAPPEN?

As and when there is demand. Recently, this has been once a year but contact Lindsey if there’s a particular item you are seeking. Chances are that someone else will be interested and buying together will help you to reduce the cost.
