Freedom, fitness, and fun

Swindon Rowing Club has now collected its Coaching Team of the Year 2025 award from British Rowing – with members of the squad pictured receiving the honour in the gallery below.
The recognition reflects a culture built on warmth, encouragement and inclusion – and a programme that is delivering results both on and off the water.
British Rowing said:
“The impact of this coaching team is clear in the achievements of their learning rowers, a growing sense of belonging for all members, a growing pride within the town of the rowing success, and the club’s exponential growth.
In just over 18 months, the club has gone from under a dozen active members to over 40. This spirit of progress, community, and care makes their coaching team exceptionally deserving of this award.”
That growth has been driven by a revitalised Learn to Row programme, shaped directly by member feedback and designed to open the sport to more people. Participation now reflects a broader mix of ages, genders, sexualities, nationalities and cultures.
The coaching team has also expanded, including new support for athletes with additional physical needs – with plans to build further from here.

Whether you're a seasoned rower, just starting out, or returning to the sport, you'll find a warm welcome at Swindon Rowing Club.
We're based on the lovely Coate Water lake, a safe and sheltered spot we share with fisherfolk, canoeists and more swans than we can count! Our two kilometre circuit offers plenty of room to hone your technique and push your limits.
Run entirely by volunteers, we're a not-for-profit club of scullers, ranging from recreational rowers to those proudly and successfully representing our club competitively.
